Lessons from Leaders: Niti Nadarajah, Head of Legal, Phillip Morris International [VIDEO]

In the last year, I think we’ve really needed to be human in leadership. Emotional intelligence has really come to the fore.Lessons from Leaders no.11:Niti Nadarajah is Head of Legal for Philip Morris International in Australia & the Pacific Islands, a mother of two, a thought leader and a passionate advocate for mental health & wellbeing. Her career as a lawyer has seen her become a senior leader for an international corporate, whilst talking openly about the aspects of life she feels are most important and raising a family.  Niti was incredibly open and insightful as she shared her story, including her observations on the legal industry, opening up about miscarriage and why she feels it is important to speak publicly and authentically as a leader. We covered a range of topics including:

  • Starting out in the legal sector & pulling all-nighters
  • The work/life challenges of a junior lawyer
  • The shift in moving from private practice to in-house
  • Learning from leaders that did and didn’t resonate
  • Leaders as advocates for topics beyond work
  • Being transparent as a leader & the other values she stays true to
  • The expectations from growing up in an Indian family
  • Finding the courage to speak publicly on what matters, including coping with miscarriages amidst the demands of work
  • The power of stories & storytelling
  • Making mental health a priority and deepening her understanding of her own mind
  • Flowing with life versus planning it all out

 Enjoy!
