The courage you can’t see.

The very fact that you’re here, reading this post is evidence that you’re courageous.

Your genes have survived through centuries, overcoming unimaginable adversity to produce you.

Your ancestors have survived countless existential threats. And you’ve made it from your birth, through your astonishing life, to this point in time.

Your very existence is both a miracle and a triumph of courage.

When we talk about courage, we often talk about heroic deeds. We talk of courage under fire, doing something brave and showing courage.

Often courage is about deeds – doing the thing no-one else will, say the thing that is unspoken, being the person others can’t be.

This is visible courage, the sort that gets applauded and celebrated.

Sometimes though, the greatest courage happens in private.

Sometimes courage is about showing up, doing your work, sticking to your values and getting through a day.

Sometimes courage is invisible.
