Focus small.

“I’m just going to focus on you for a while.”

Has anyone ever said this to you?

We don’t find it strange to focus on one thing – one business, one project, or one task at a time.

By applying that focus in one place, we’re being generous and efficient. And we’re also being effective by concentrating our effort and attention.

Focus is a form of selfishness – we devote our attention in one place and exclude everything else.

As leaders, we can can create change by keeping our view broad, aiming to influence many, many people.

Or we can create change by focusing more narrowly – on one person.

Focussing small is powerful. We are better placed to lead and change others when we’ve applied our focus in one person first.

It might be you. It might be your neighbour. It might be your boss. It all starts with focus.

That’s how great things start.
